in the 2012 budget statement the Chancellor of Exchequeor George Osborne anounced that the VAT at the full rate of 20% will be levied on static caravans and mobile homes from October 2012. This dramatic VAT increase on holiday homes is set to have huge impact on the struggling holiday home and caravan industry as the increased price for the customers would reduce sales considerably.
